IWAC - 2019 The 4th International Congress on Women’s Health and Unsafe Abortion
Project Description
The Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights Foundation of Thailand in cooperation with Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RTCOG), Medical Association of Thailand (MAT), Thai Medical Women Association (TMWA), National Health Security Office (NHSO) and Reproductive Health Society (Thai) therefore decided to hold the 4th International Congress on Women’s Health and Unsafe Abortion (IWAC 2019) on February 19-22, 2019 at Asia Hotel, Bangkok. The 1st congress was hold on January 20-23, 2010, the 2nd congress was hold on January 22-25, 2013 at Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel, Bangkok and the 3th congress was hold on January 26-29, 2016 at Asia Hotel, Bangkok respectively.
The objectives of this congress are;
1. To provide scientific platform to highlight the universal problem of unsafe abortion and women’s health and rights
2. To highlight that abortion is the public health and reproductive rights issues
3. To highlight the advances and current safe abortion technology being used in the developed world and such technology can be easily transferred to the developing world.
4. To provide platform for global networking
5. To promote Thailand as a venue of international meeting
This Congress was opened by Congress Chairman Prof. Kamheang Chaturachinda, M.D. on the morning of February 20, 2019 at Asia Hotel Bangkok, Thailand.The Congress was organized with a pre-congress workshop on value clarification, 1 Keynote Address and 12 symposia, 5 sessions of free communications; 60 oral presentations and 4 poster presentations. Thirty-one international speakers and twelve local speakers were invited. There were totally 259 delegates (130 international delegates from 43 nations around the world and 129 local delegates).
